Yoga & Mindfulness training for Educators
In response to the youth mental health crisis, schools have begun implementing relaxation activities such as yoga, mindfulness and breathing exercises to enhance the wellbeing of students. This comprehensive training program is designed for school educators and integrates trauma-informed practices to support stress reduction, improve coping skills, and promote overall well-being in students.
Participants in this program will learn practical techniques to teach yoga and mindfulness to students effectively and gain access to a variety of resources and lesson plans to support students for an entire semester. No prior yoga experience is required to enroll in this training.
What to expect
The training consists of 12 hours of live virtual sessions, which will be recorded and made temporarily accessible for participants after each session. Additionally, four hours of pre-recorded yoga classes are included to reinforce teaching strategies and provide additional context and considerations for school environments. Participants will receive 50 lesson plans that can be used to develop a semester-long course or adapted into shorter lessons for classes, small groups, or advisory periods, depending on the school's resources and needs.
Quotes from Educators in Yoga & Mindfulness Training
“My biggest takeaway was the variety of ways yoga and mindfulness can be incorporated in the classroom/athletics to help meet student needs. The trauma informed yoga lesson was very informative, as well.”
“This training exceeded my expectations and afterwords I felt more confident about teaching a variety of yoga & mindfulness practices to my students.”
“Although I was very hesitant about the hands on portion due to my lack of yoga experience, I really enjoyed how it gave me an opportunity to practice and receive feedback. It's a laid back atmosphere so don't be worried about demonstrating breaths, sharing a lesson, etc.”
Quotes from Students in Yoga & Mindfulness Class
“Yoga might be one of the most influential classes I’ve ever taken. Going into yoga I thought only physical aspects of me were going to change, but I was wrong. This class has really made me double think the content I consume, helped me better understand and regulate my emotions, and improved my overall appreciation for life.”
-Elliot
“I have practiced yoga before, but I have found the consistency of our in-class practices to be incredibly beneficial. I feel much more energized and mentally prepared to face whatever challenges come my way. I also leave the practice with a greater compassion and understanding for myself and others. I am very excited to see my progress over the semester and to continue to put these skills into practice. Thank you!”
-Lauren
“So far, the breathing techniques have resonated with me most. I realized that I have subconsciously been using my ocean's breath during stressful situations so knowing that I do this and knowing that it helps me feel better is really inspiring and calming.”
-Katie
“I saw it as a good way to bring more movement and focus to my everyday life. And so far, I've loved it. All of those goals are being met everytime we meet, and after every practice I feel energized and more balanced. I can't wait for the rest of the semester and to work even more on meditation and physical movements.”
-Reid
“Especially as an athlete, I tend to get on myself a lot. To the point where I am just extremely pissed off at myself whether it is just from not performing the way I wanted to, or any number of reasons. This can really do a number on my mental health. So one way I have started to practice non-harming is through breathing techniques. Whenever I start to get on edge about something in my mind, I just practice some breathing techniques such as our ocean breath and I start to feel better.”
